Purpose:
This visa allows foreign non-academic or vocational students to study in the United States. Eligibility: You are eligible for this visa if you will be a full-time student in a vocational or non-academic field entering the United States to study for up to one year.
Special Limitations and Conditions:
If you remain longer than a year, you will have to apply for an extension of stay. You are allowed to work part-time on campus and may only work off campus if your job is part of the practical training required for your certificate or degree. In this case, you must get permission from the INS. You may change your course of study and may only change schools in the first six months with permission from the INS. You may not change your status to F-1.
